Therapeutic
Learning Center - Preschool Teacher
The Therapeutic Learning Center is in search
of a special education teacher for the 24-25 school year. Classroom teachers at
the TLC are responsible for the early education of children in their care.
Duties and responsibilities of the classroom teacher include developing and
delivering interactive learning programs designed to engage and educate young
children with special needs.

Knowledge of early childhood
development and milestones.
●
Knowledge of and experience
working with students that have developmental delays, medical complexities, and
other disabilities.
●
Knowledge and understanding of
common educational technologies and trends and how to implement technology for
engaging lessons, as well as data collection.
●
Ability to effectively implement
engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons to students, and monitor to
make adjustments as needed.
●
Understanding of various learning
styles and how to meet individual student needs.
●
Ability to handle problems,
concerns and emotional distress with sensitivity and tact.
●
Ability to communicate orally and
in writing with students, parents, and others.
●
Collaborate with other teachers,
parents, and stakeholders and participate in regular meetings and events.
●
Work collaboratively and
communicate effectively with the team, be able to solve problems independently
and with the team.
●
Ability to plan, establish
priorities and implement activities for maximum effectiveness.
●
Ability to assess levels of
student achievement effectively, analyze test results, and prescribe actions
for improvement.
●
Ability to maintain appropriate
student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in
which to learn.
●
Ability to write and follow
through with Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and maintain compliance.
●
Ability to document student goals,
collect data, and assess children effectively.
●
Observe and understand students’
behavior and wellbeing and report suspicions of neglect, abuse, etc.
●
Develop and enrich professional
skills and knowledge by attending professional development trainings,
conferences, etc.
●
Patience and compassion suitable
for working with young children
●
Knowledge and understanding of
different behavioral needs and how to effectively implement classroom
management strategies.
●
Strong public speaking and oral
presentation skills
●
Use effective time management and
organizational skills with fidelity.
●
Provide tools and resources for
children to use and explore during learning and play activities
●
Provide social skills instruction
and facilitate peer interactions and social groups throughout the school day.
●
Maintain inventory system for
classroom materials and supplies
●
Adhere to health/safety and
sanitation procedures
●
Preparation/Support including, but
not limited to: Preparing visual aids or communication supports, duplicating
materials, laminating, reorganizing materials, distributing and collecting
materials, creating and planning arts and crafts activities
●
Assist with student hygiene and
independent functioning needs including, but not limited to: toilet training
and toileting assistance (changing diapers), handwashing, feeding.
●
Support each child’s social,
emotional and intellectual growth and development.
●
Thorough knowledge of teaching
best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to
follow the school’s policies and procedures
Requirements
●
Bachelor’s degree in Early
Childhood or ESE from an accredited educational institution preferred.
●
Valid Florida teacher
certification in ESE and either Pre-K Primary or Preschool Education
●
Clear level 2 criminal background
screening.
●
A valid Florida Driver's license
and proof of insurance.
●
Certification in CPR and First
Aid, kept current. (will train, if needed)
